PvIB CTF 2024 & 2025

Participation in PvIB CTF 2024 and 2025, an annual pentest event focused on cybersecurity and ethical hacking. With a permanent team, we improved our ranking from 24th to 14th place and will participate again in 2026.

Introduction

Technical focus and collaboration

The PvIB Capture the Flag (CTF) is an annual penetration testing and security event organized by the Platform for Information Security (PvIB). During this event, teams solve technical security challenges in a short time, ranging from web exploits and forensics to cryptography and network security.

Together with Yassine, Adel, Mark, Thijs, and Mathijs, I participated in the PvIB CTF in both 2024 and 2025. In 2024, we finished in 24th place, and in 2025, we significantly improved our result, finishing 14th. The CTF offered an instructive mix of technical challenge, teamwork, and time pressure.

During the CTF, we worked as a team on a variety of security challenges, including offensive security, vulnerability analysis, and logical problem-solving. Collaboration within the team played a key role in allocating tasks and efficiently solving challenges under time pressure.

Preview: PvIB CTF 2026

After two editions with clear progress, we plan to participate in the PvIB CTF again in 2026, with the aim of further deepening our security knowledge and improving our final ranking.
