Project:

dURL

dURL is a decentralized URL shortener built on the Gnosis Chain, developed during the ETH Dam III hackathon. The project won $2,000 for most innovative dApp. Users can create permanent links via smart contracts, including custom slugs and QR codes.

ETH Dam III

Web3 hackathon: $2000 prize

Together with Yassine and Adel, I built the dURL project, a decentralized URL shortener on the Gnosis Chain, over the weekend of ETH Dam III (a 48-hour Web3 hackathon in Amsterdam). This hackathon challenged over 275 participants to develop innovative solutions within a few days, focusing on themes such as privacy, security, and AI. We worked day and night (I stayed awake for 41 hours straight), and our hard work paid off: one of the main sponsors, Circles, named our project the most innovative dApp of the event, earning us a $2,000 prize.

Motivation

dURL: a trustless alternative to Bitly

dURL is a decentralized URL shortener that runs entirely on-chain via smart contracts (written in Solidity for the Gnosis Chain). Users can create short links using a custom slug or have them generated automatically. Custom links require payment in CRC tokens, and random links only require the xDAI gas fee. The front-end is built with Bootstrap 5 and SCSS, with MetaMask integration via Ethers.js. Users can manage their shortened links via a personalized dashboard, including QR code generation.
